On its journey across the globe the little Chouffe wandered through beautiful hopfields. The overwhelming aroma of these little hop flowers such as Tomahawk, Amarillo and Saaz mesmerized him.
Back at home in the Ardennes he crafted a new recipe combining this dizzying array of hops with the depth and body of his favorite style “Tripel”. Thus, our little Chouffe’s new inspiration Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel was born.
Houblon Chouffe:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing.
Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness).

"I wasn't really sure what to expect with the IPA/Tripel thing but this beer was not only interesting to try but also quite good. Pours a golden, perhaps light orange color with a huge fluffy head. Tons of lacing. Aroma is heavy malty with perfume and some light floral hopping. The flavor is fruity, a bit tangy, with yeast and hop bitterness hitting following the fruity esters. Light numbing and a bit dry in the finish. Definitely seems more Tripel than IPA to me but an interesting blend of flavors that really does work. "

"This beer pours a hazy golden hay color with a white creamy head. Initially I smelled floral lemon hops. A medium-bodied ale that had a great balance of sweetness from the mats and candi sugar and bitterness from the dry hopping. A Tripel like no other I have ever tasted. Delicious."

"THis beer poured with a beautiful cloudy golden colored body filled with sediment and topped off by a towering fluffy white head that left great lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma is bright floral hops, yeast and lemon peel. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with lively carbonation that is very expansive. THe flavor is bigs hops right up front, much more than I had expected with tons of tripel complexity coming from spicy, yeasty, and citric tones, behind the floral and lemon hoppy flavors that are really standing out."

"Pours a deep hay color, slightly cloudy. Head was huge, thick and frothy. Aroma was of floural hops, grass, bread, and fruits. Tastes blast your tastes buds with bitter grapefruit rind, grassy hops and bread. "
