"My first Bulgarian beer came curteosy of my brother in-law whose girlfriend was born there. They recently got back from a two week trip to her homeland and picked me up this authentic Bulgarian beer for the equivalence of something like 35 cents for a half litre. I can't read a single word on the whole bottle except for some tiny print in French for 2 awards! Clear, deep golden color with a nice, sparkling white head. Aroma was only slightly skunky, which surprised me considering the long trip and green bottle. Also noticable was bready malt and hints of citrus. Body is medium-light with a subdued carbonation tingle. A touch sweet with a dryer finish. The malt flavor is ever so slightly roasty, a tad fruity, a little corny, which may be from high temperatures in transport, and almost lightly hopped for a weak bitterness in the end. I have to say that this beer beat my expectations, and wasn't all entirely bad for a style that I don't normally like anyway. Sure beats a lot of the crap brewed on this side of the planet."
