"Bottle courtesy of mgermani: Poured a dirty cloudy dark beige color ale with huge foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light funkyness with some typical Belgian malt. Taste is also dominated by some light funkyness with some notes of dry Belgian Malt. Body is thinner then I would have expected even thought there is quite a lot of sediment in the beer; carbonation is top-notch thought. I have to admit that I was expecting a lot more from this based on previous rating which makes me doubt if I had a bad bottle."

"Quite an explosive beer. The cork popped out as soon as the cage was removed. Gigantic white head with a hazy orange liquid in the bottom of the glass. Funny aroma of oranges, cheese, cork and wet grass. Wet grass, flowers, wet wood, orange-peels and grapeskins in flavour with warming spicy undertone. Dried oranges in the aftertaste. Funny and tasty saison."

"08.22.05 750ml bottle, cork dated 2004. Hazed honey gold with fantastic, towering, rocky off-white head. Active stuff with visible eff and a quarter inch of head that lasts all the way to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is light, fruity, and biscuity. Pineapple, orange, mint, and a touch of corriander. Flavor is fruity but more muddled, quite spicy/herbal and nice blend of dusty, musty, earthy hops. Soft honey sweetness underneath it all that emerges and coats the palate with temperature. Nice stuff, refreshing, summery, and still rich and yeasty enough to stay interesting."

"This is one brewery that has really attracted my attention recently. Between the excellent Darbyste, and the highly-recommended Saison De L'Epeautre, I had a good feling about popping this open on an otherwise quiet Wednesday evening. And after the first sip or two, I knew that this was another winner.
Quoted from the front label:
"A nutty amber brew named for A.J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewer's family" Well, I'm certianly sure that the cur would enjoy having something this nice named in his honor (not that he had any honor per se, I'm sure, but you get what I'm saying!).
Bright and quite orange-ish in appearence, with a nice even layer of foam always present atop.
Some nut-like notes in the nose and the flavor profile, but mostly a very clean and refreshing taste to this beer. I'm sure that I had this straight fom the brewery, I would be happy dying and going striaght to heaven! But even with the inherent flaws of bottlinjg a beer and sending it some 12,000 miles, it's a credit to the brewery that this beer is as fresh and tasty as it is.
A bigger, and yet still refreshing, version of the Darbyste, this is another beer that is quite "earthy" and quite "down-to-earth", so to speak. No need for beer-geeks with huge bankrolls hunting this beer down -- it's solid enough for the everyday beer drinker to enjoy with some frites n' mayonaise, IMO.
Another winner from the Brasserie de Blaugies, without a doubt. Recommended.

"Pours with a golden orange body topped by a thick fizzy head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and herbal with lots of tea notes and lots of lemon. The flavor is similar with a little bitterness. Light bodied, fizzy and a touch dry."
