"This was an excellent beer. The beer is dark brown with a huge tan head, and the head lasts a while. The aroma is sweet malt, caramel, yeast, and brown sugar. The flavour is more of the same. Very complex mixture of a malty sweetness, balanced by fruit and hop hints. "

"330ml draught
6.5% ABV
I tried this beer on May 9, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario on tap. The beer was a beautiful dark brown with some plum coloured hints and a thin, rocky, tan coloured head. The aroma was sweet malt, with some yeasty tones, as well as chocolate and cherry hints. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, mildly carbonated, and slightly creamy. The flavour was caramel malt, some other fruit flavours like cherries and plum, and a little hoppish bitterness to round it out. I loved this beer. "

"This Abbey dubbel pours a deep reddish color from a 33cl bottle. Large sized beige foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is malty, brown sugar, dark fruits and sweet. A medium bodied dubbel. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of sherry and port. The hops are earthy and mild. Lively carbonation. Lots of malt sweetness and some chocolate. Kind of one dimensional. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and sweet. Aftertaste is sweet. "

"Hazy reddish brown with a rich long-lasting white foam. Almondy, yeast, prunes and raisins in the aroma with notes of straw and metal. Sweet malty and yeasty flavour of banana, almond and milky chocolate. Light bodied for a Dubbell. Almond, light chocolate, nuts and dust in the finish. "
