"Pours a nice mahogany color with small tan head. Aroma was malty, nutty, with a hint of chocolate and taste was a bit sweet with some citrusy hops present. Considering the color, this beer was not at all what I expected--in a positive way. Very enjoyable."

"Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with an average foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of big caramel malt is quite imposing and dominating. Taste is also dominated by some heavy caramel malt with some notes of bitter hops. Lacking some floral or citrus notes with not as much hops as I was expecting considering the brewery. Full body with average carbonation and no discernable alcohol. This one was a bit of a surprise considering the lack of hops (yes there is a lot but not as much as I would expect from Lagunitas) but the malt was very efficient."

"The initial aromas were difficult to detect but all I could tell was there faint aromas of citrus and hops. This medium bodied brown-red colored ale with a tan colored head had an interesting range of flavors. It ranged from floral like hops to ripe fruit to chocolate and caramel. This beer's flavor and smells started off somewhat slow but finished strong. All in all a delicious beer to sip and enjoy. "

"Pour was chestnut amber with a three finger head which left some nice lacing. Aroma was caramel and pine. The flavor was a caramel malt backbone with hints of chocolate and a piney/resinous finish. Pretty good flavor, but with a lot of these Lagunitas brews, it just lacked a little oomph to take it over the top. The mouthfeel was really carbonated and tingly...really was reminiscent of something hairy. All in all, I liked it."

"The name is funny. There is nothing funny about the beer. Pours a deep amber color topped with a thin head. Aroma is quite sugary and alcoholic with plums and maybe some figs. The flavor consists of toasted malts, a rush of alcohol and sugars along with some dark fruit character; plums, figs and molasses. A real solid sipper while being easy to drink. "
