A true classic. The original Pecan Nut Brown Ale. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don't mix.
Maybe it's something about the water here, and maybe it's just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

"A smooth but vigorous pour into my 25cl tulip glass forms a fat, three-finger thick, lightly browned, tan colored head. The beer is a deep red, almost plum color that shows a brilliantly clear, copper tinged, full red color when held up to the light. The aroma has a soft fruitiness to it up front that mixes in with an earthy nutty and toasted malt character. A touch of astringent, roasty grain notes are found towards the end of the aroma. The more I dig around in the aroma the more nutty notes I start to smell. I do like how the soft, berry like, fruitiness mixes with the nut character and malt notes in the aroma.
Served a little cold, about 40°F / 4.5°C and tastes sweet up front. A prickly carbonation provides a touch of pepper and a definite fizz to the texture. The finish has a lingering, light-medium fullness to it that sticks just a touch to the palate. The nuttiness is at first noticed as an oral-nasal effect in the middle, but becomes more distinct and flavored as the beer slips down my throat. The nuttiness has a toasty, slightly astringent (almost tannic in some ways) note to it. A fruitiness is noticeable in the taste as well, with touches of currants as well as some raisin like flavors. This is highly quaffable and I could definitely see myself drinking a few pints of this.
An interesting beer that has just enough character to keep me interested. By far the best beer I have had from Mississippi (ok it is the only one too, but it is still good)."

"Finally an Ole Miss beer! And amber to brown apperance with a white head. I detect some of the pacens in the aroma but I also get some caramel and honey. The flavor is straight up pecan pie with some honey and molasses as well. Overall not great but an interesting beer anyway. "

"Far better than the only other 'nut brown ale' that I've tried - Newcastle. Full bodied, but not heavy. Smooth drinkable taste for an ale with a hint of pecan aroma. A true sensory delight. Nice pour and head."

"Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This brown ale pours a light brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is nutty, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are nutty, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice pecan finish. Nice session ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aft"

"From a bottle. Pours a clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, and naturally, nutty. Thin mouthfeel with a very sweet flavor. The nut flavor is present, and it lingers in the aftertaste. An ok beer. Thanks to Dansting for the bottle."
