In origin, this sweet-acid drink was obtained by adding fresh black cherries to a barrel Lambic of 6 months young. The addition of fruits provokes a new fermentation in the oak barrels. After another 8 to 12 months, only peels and stones left and the Kriek-Lambic is ready to be filtered and bottled. The residual sugar can be adjusted with straight-on fruit juice to give a refermentation in the bottle. This traditional type of fruit beer is more acid and less fruity.
Because of the limited availability of the "Schaerbeekse Cherries", just as to brew a less sour and more fruity Lambic beer, Lindemans farm brewery developed an unique natural method using pure cherry juice from unfrozen cherries. This straight cherry juice is blended with selected Lambic of different ages.
Kriek has a pink-red color and a delicious taste of sparkling cherry champagne.

"A very delicious lambic. It had a medium dark red colored body with a cherry red head that didn't last very long. Initially I smelled tart yet somewhat sweet cherries and some cherry blossom floral notes. When I tasted it I was immediately taken aback by the perfect balance of tart and sweet cherry flavors. A great beer to sip during the summer or when enjoying a sweet dessert."

"Poured out a dark pink beer with a nice bright head; on a good pour I can get some ropy lacing. The aroma is of black cherries, some oak, medium sweet, a slight dusty earthiness (very little). It's big on the black cherry. The taste is also dark cherry, slight wood, a spritzy sourness, nice sweetness, a bit dry and mild overall. Has a great carbonation to it, good solid sourness that goes dry then goes sweet. Finishes with a slight heat. Mild an smooth overall."

"This is a cherry red beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sour cherries. The flavour is mildly sour cherries with a little malt backbone. Very champagne like."

"This one is cherry sour candy in a bottle - Pours a ruby red with a cherry pink frothy, long-sustained head that leaves tons of tight lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of sour cherries and malts. Taste is a sweet cherry explosion that is sour but not overly, with a tartness that is super. Loved this and will drink again. "

"Strange bottle a cap plus a cork that required a cork screw. The only thing I can say about the look of the beer its very pretty with its rich ruby red body and huge pink cap that had phenomenal retention and lacing, for a fruit beer this looks perfect. Aroma is loaded with sour cherries and had undertones of apple, the warmer it got the sweeter the smell got turning almost candy like towards the end. Mouth feel is smooth and full with great carbonation. So very tasty wow I’m blown away by the flavor. Tons of fresh cherry that has a very tart quality but yet still sweet, the tartness and the sweetness are in perfect balance. I still think I’m getting a touch of apple. The malts are rich and smooth but stay in the back ground letting the intense cherry shine through. So good I can’t believe it even the fiancé likes what is rare in fact when I got up to answer the phone she drink half my glass ( very close to calling the wedding off after that little stunt ). "
