From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. Brewed at Port Brewing, San Marcos, CA http://www.lostabbey.com

"A cloudy yellow appearance with a rather large white head. The aroma is full of peaches, apricots, and lemons. The flavor is quite sour with more of the above mentioned fruit showing and a slight spicy presence. This reminds me more of a saison but oh well a very good beer regardless. "

"This beer is a cloudy orange to the pour with a very large tan coloured head. The aroma is a complex aroma of malt and fruit, mainly citrusy fruits. The taste is primarily malt and yeast with a bit of hoppy bitterness thrown in for good measure."

"This was pretty good, but some reason I was expecting a lot more. Some vanilla notes some light hops. Golden color with thick head that quickly dissipates. My only real complaint was actually my fault: I didn't take into consideration that a "caged cork" bottle would have a ton of yeast on the bottom. As a result, I essentially poured a loaf of bread into the last glass. Man, was there a lot of yeast in there--I've never seen a beer look that opaque. I am still really interested in trying the other Lost Abbey beers, but alas, I'll probably have to make another trip south in order to find them. "

"Bottle: Poured a medium yellow color ale with a big foamy white head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of medium sweet malt with a distinctive yeast presence. Taste is dominated by medium sweet malt with some bread and yeast notes and a slightly dry finish. Body is about average with some great carbonation. Interesting but lacking some character to make this truly interesting and I cannot see this beer aging well."

"Bottle shared, courtesy, slob. Poured a murky cloudy gold-orange color, nice white head with great retention. Solid lacing. The aroma was coriander, wit-like in many ways, light floral notes at higher temperatures, orange-citrus overtones. The flavor wasa caramel, very light apples, malty, yeasty, bready, citrus, full and hearty mouthfeel, light spicing, the alcohol a little too noticeable, especially at only 7%ABV. Mouthfeel finishes with a slightly dry accent, but not extremely dry, as the malts keep this thing a bit wet. Bert, thanks for sharing!!!"
