This golden-bodied triple is redolent with a festive sparkle, complex aroma, lush body and creamy head. Sweetness and fruitiness join hoppy spiciness in a balanced, long, warm finish. This is strong ale, but the balance, finish, and velvety smoothness make this 10% brew smooth and quaffable.
Like the abbey dubbel this ale can be cellared, standing upright, for up to three years, in a dark, cool place at 42-50° F. You can drink the beer later; it will become sweeter and feel denser in the mouth, and develop honeyed notes.
In Belgium, the flavors of this triple ale make it a treasured ingredient in fine cooking.

"Pours a clear coppery brown with a fluffy off-white head. Rich, nose-filling aroma is malty and spicy with hints of caramel and horehound. Lip-smacking malty flavor has caramel, spicy and honey tones. Lively, fizzy, firm-bodied texture leaves a fairly strong and persistent tingle. Look for this one!"

"Pours a dark cloudy blond, big head that lasts a good long time, pretty lacing. Flavor rather nice, not super overpowering, but the 10% ethanol is on high end of the flavor notes. Expensive, a good life experience to have at least once."

"Hazy gold/orange color with signiture belgian rocky head. Smell is fruity, with cider and spice. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Flavor is of spiced cider and bread with hints of raisins and plums. The cidery smell made me afraid that they used too much sugar in this but the flavor proves they did it just right."

"Beer 9 of my 12 Beers of Christmas - this one carried me from late night New Year's Eve until 2011! Nice nearly clear light golden orange pour with a medium bubbly head and nice tight lacing with every sip. Very carbonated. Floral hops, light funkiness, honeysuckle and honey in the pleasing aromas. Slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Taste is rich with the floral and earthy hops slightly forward then offset by a nice candi sugar and honey sweetness. Excellent beer, now one of my favorites. Happy New Year! "

"Pours hazy, cloudy amber with a huge white head that lingers... alcohol dominates in aroma along with bread and raisen. Medium in the mouth with a sweet, malty finish."
