"Pours opaque with scattered, fading head. Deep roastiness accented by coffee and smoke comprise the aroma. Smoke is evident but not dominant to the flavor profile, which works for me personally. I have also noted other smoked beers having a strong, wet-earthiness that this one, thankfully, lacked. Mouthfeel is soft and fizzy, a pleasant surprise for the style."

[2] Review by Brett from Far from good beer, OK, USA who has tried this beer once. (4/14/2008 10:41:10 PM)
"Sampled from bottle. Pours opaque blackened-brown with a creamy tan head and decorative lacing. Its aroma is clearly smokey, but there's plenty of chocolate malts and a bit of fruity esters too. Pleasantly bitter. Smoke, pears/grapes, coffee and chocolate malts present in the flavor. Medium-full body. An excellent smoked beer - enough to enjoy, but not so much to make it a gimmick or so overwhelming you wouldn't pass on drinking a few pints at a time."

"Pours nearly opapue black with a tinge of burgandy. Nice tan head with pretty lace as it's consumed. The powerly smoky aroma tells you that this is going to be a good one! Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation with a medium or light mouthfeel. The flavor is so full that you'd possibly expect a fuller feel to it. Flavor is typical porter that "goes up in smoke!""

"Pours a deep dark black colour with a fairly large tan head with excellent retention. An interesting smoked salmon taste. Very heavy, chocolate, wood and pine tasting. Flavors of dark chocolate, ripe fruit and coffee."

"Pours a deep black with a one inch head that faed quickly to a soapy cap and thick ring, leaving behind a broken webbing of lace.
Smell; the smokey aroma by far the dominant smell in this. There's hints of some coffee and chocolate, but you really have to search for them.
Taste; the coffee and chocolate come out more in the flavor than they did in the smell. The smoked flavors are strong, and make me think of bacon as I drink this, but they're not to the point of being overwhelming. There's also just a bit of hop bitterness present towards the end, Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and much more drinkable than I had anticipated."
