Belgian pale & pilsner malts w/ Styrian Golding for bittering and Saaz for aroma. Ginger predominates the spicing. Fermented in primary with Ommegang's house yeast, followed by secondary with Brettanomyces bruxellensis. Dry-hopped in secondary w/ a blend of hops; Tettnang being the stand-out. The flavor profile is very herbal with an earthy undertone (very fitting for a Belgian-style farmhouse ale). The dry finish and pronounced hop aromas hide the 8% abv very well. Dangerously drinkable for its strength and character.

"THANKS GULLY!!! For sharing this gem with me still really don’t know what it was except for awesome. (BATCH #2) Hazy straw gold body holding up a rocky white cap that leaves behind roapy lacing. The taste and aroma are just screwed it’s a mix of like three different styles, what is this?!?!?!? Aroma is sweet with non harsh burnt rubber elements, apple, floral shop, pine apple, wheat…..so unique so yummy. Taste is so sweet and smooth and no beer in history has ever come close to tasting like this. Belgian yeast, wheat, apple, tonic water, raspberry , grape juice and mild tart finish. I want more!!!!!!!!!!!! this is so complex you taste something new every sip. This is a beer that I’ll never forget and will stock up on if it ever comes to this neck of the woods."

"Sampled from bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a thick, creamy white head. Very complex, earthy aroma with floral spices, apples, pineapple and grapefruit. The flavor is dominated by the yeast. Tart flavor with the same earthy, fruity yeast character as noted in the aroma. Not as much barnyard funk a I would have expected - they must have invited the bugs to the party after a well-attenuating primary yeast strain had it way with the wort. Slightly vinous with a dry, creamy finish. An original and well-made beer. This isn't "Pale Ale #33283 or American Wheat #59933," this is a beer that's worth seeking out. "Pours a thick- looking, cloudy gold color withthick, creamy head. The aroma is pleasant: yeasty but clean with subtle ginger topnotes. Light malt and wheat character are balanced by a great herbal hoppiness. The spicing really adds an interesting dimension. All the elements really work well together in the flavor profile. Heavenly mouthfeel: soft and creamy. Full bodied, but not to heavy. No notable warming. "

"Batch #3 - April 2008
Tonight my friend Rob brought over a bottle of Ommegeddon Funkhouse Ale. I absolutely love Ommegang products and was excited to get a bottle of this.
The beer has a cloudy, light amber color to it with an explosive white head that starts off thick and dies down only a little bit. It leaves behind some absolutely excellent lacing on the side of the glass as you drink it down. The aroma is that of apples, pear, yeast, and white bread.
Funkhouse is probably the proper term for this one. This definitely has a funky taste to it that really rocks. It's got a little bit of everything funky in there with some yeast, apple, hops, wheat, grains, and even a bit of tartness. It's really good and smooth drinking. I love it!
I'm definitely sold on this one. Bring me some more Rob!"
