Like our 1830 Porter but without the Brett finish.

"This is one delicious beer. The color is dark chocolate with a taste to match. The taste is very coffee like. The taste is only slightly bitter on the back of the tongue and mostly sweet on the front of the tongue."

"Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a small foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cacaco, some subtle dry coffee and some roasted malt. Taste is dominated by some semi-dry black chocolate with some subtle notes of coffee with some bitterness form roasted malt. Body is full with some medium to low carbonation and a creamy texture. Very well done with some similarities to Fuller porter."

"Extremely dark brown body may as well just call it black, not too much of a cap was formed during the poor, some spotty lacing but not too much looks ok but pretty boring for the style. Aroma is mild and sweet lots of coffee, some blueberries, and black liquorish. Not enjoying this aroma it’s not bad it’s just not appealing to me with the black liquorish aspect of it. Flavor is coffee and burnt malts, taste is light but very dark tasting. A smoky quality lingers for a long while in my mouth, finishes sweet but a bitterness stays for hours after each sip. It’s ok to drink but it’s not wowing me theses marks seem way to low but it’s all I can give it. "

"Nice! Just got a whiff as I poured it out of the bottle into my glass and this is going to be good. This is one dark brown brew. I got a small ammount of brown fizz that did leave the top of my glass coated - lives on as a ring. I'm noting that I can't get too excited about this as I have not had a good beer of this style in quite awhile. The aroma has faded a bit but is still pretty nice - roasted malts weigh in large, Brown Cow chocolate syrup (what ever happened to that stuff? It was the shit!!!), and coffee. Thank god that the roast / choc are larger than the coffee. Try to find this smell at the very last second of sensory reading - raspberries. There it is again...and again. dammit! It's faint, but look for it - it's the last thing I smell if I really concentrate; literally the last 1/10th of a second. As this warms It becomes more apparent. That Carling Black Label I just slammed has made me giddy. And.....done. Gotta go upstairs to get the other one out of the fridge - hahahahaha I never even got past the aroma part and my glass is empty! Taste is really really good - an instant favourite. Tons of flavour - seriously - but not overly strong. In fact it's kinda mellow although its huge...??? Well rounded flavour. A great mix of dark roasted malts (a touch burnt?), the weakest of coffee, slight sweetness - it's all malts. Some dry chocolate too. Medium to full bodied. Very smooth and soft. Never comes across agressive - the largest huge beer I've ever had that stayed mellow. Faint sourness....that sourness just turned into a lengthy appealing malty / chalky bitter blend for aftertaste. Excellent beer. Paddock's stock just keeps rising. Realistically, I need to rate this above 4.0. I would eat mushrooms to get this on tap."
