"A clear dark ruby - brownish beer with a medium white foam collar on top. Has a malty aroma with a bit yeast. Feels watery and a bit acidic. Has flavors of malt and brown sugar. The aftertaste is malt and sweet."

"Much stable foam. Color is rich and darkish brown. Very beautiful. Aroma is a little bit too watery, but still has some hints to the hops and caramel. In the taste there's a strong hint to the cookies and caramel. Surprisingly rich and interesting beer."

"Poured from 500ml can, brought back from France. Not much head but an otherwise lovely appearence. A tawny red, like a blood red when held to the light. Mouthfeel needs some work, the macro side of this beer is evident right away (the Brasserie now owned by Heineken). Texture way off from what it should be for a brune of any style (this is listed under various categories such as English brown ale, etc elsewhere) Texture on the watery side and carbonation way too high! Some chewiness. Flavour and aroma are both very hard to find. Some malt detected, but hardly any. Maybe the can doesn't do it justice?? The beer would redeem some points as it warmed, but in large part this was simply not very good. "

"330 ml bottle, in France. Deep brown colour, decent tan head. Flavour is malty with some caramel, fairly sweet. Smooth and nice to drink. Hardly any bitterness at all. "

[5] Review by Chopz from Cantley, Canada who has tried this beer once. (7/24/2005 2:40:40 AM)
"This French dark lager pours a brown-red colour with a nice creamy head. The lacing is good and the retention is long. Very pleasant scent of roasted malt and nuts with a slight metallic background. The taste starts nutty and finishes sweet, going into the aftertaste. There is also mild bitterness in the finish. Reminds me of some Irish reds and the mouthfeel is smooth. I am rarely amazed by beers from France, but I would drink this one anyday. Thanks to Matt for sharing this one brought back from France itself."
