"Had this at the Baltimore St. Grill in Cumberland. Very good flavor, reminded me of a Guinness. Nice dark color and very smooth mouthfeel. Would definitely recommend this one."

"How about the cool, crispness of a lager and the robust flavor of a stout/porter? That’s what you got with this one. Only criticism was very little in the nose. But there’s plenty of caramel, malt you find in a sout/pirter. The carbonation and fizz of a lager. Together gives a smooth, nice drink."

"This is right on line with what a good dunkel should be. Nothing extraordinary, but a real nice dark lager nonetheless. Burnt, organic/earthy scent with subtle hints of woody smoke and chocolate. Dark chestnut pour with a mild tan head and splotchy lacing. Drinkable and smooth with a creamy body and thin easy finish. The taste has a delicate balance of roasted malt and floral hops, each compliments the other really well. Nutty with a calm grassy flavor. Good Dunkel"

"From a bottle. Pours a clear dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet and somewhat smokey. Flavor is sweet as well. Surprisingly good lager. "

"This was a 20th anniversary bottle, which reminded me that I began drinking this just over 10 years ago. This was my staple back when I first began frequenting the Penn Brewery, something to scare my girlfriends who were "afraid of the dark." Love the Valkyrie. The color is a translucent dark ruddy brown, a bit like Coke. Smells sweet, of raisins and bubblegum, wheat and grass. Nice light coffee flavor, drier than the scent suggests but with an underlying sweetness. A tad sour. I don't love it as much as I used to, but I still feel attached."
