Petrus Double Brown Ale is a top-fermented dark beer. Brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts. This dark beer with its subtle and slightly caramelized flavour is preferably served cool.

"Dark reddish brown body with a long lasting beige head. Loads of thick sticky lacing is coating my glass. Aroma is slightly disappointing it is mild, slightly sour and metallic. However the flavor is rich and smooth, very chocolaty, sweet, and creamy. I have to agree with the people here and say a brown sugar flavor is very strong. Mouth feel is a touch thin form me. Very good beer, high quality, and easy drinking. "

"Been awhile since I've had an Abbey Dubbel... yumyum!
Poured out a nice sized light brown cap with pretty good retention and slippery, ropy lacing.
I keep forgetting to hit up the aroma cause I'm too busy chugging this. Warm caramel malts, plums, brown sugar... ahhhh not bad at all.
The taste loses its early greatness at some point and I recommend not to let this over-warm. Very heavy on the malts with caramel dominating, almost burnt sugar, very sweet, an apparently totally random mix of fruits, odd hop taste.
Really smooth beer teeters on slickness but still in a good way. Full bodied. Malts throughout, slight spice piggybacks that. FInishes sweet with a quick fading bitterness and leaves a brown sugar aftertaste. I like."

"330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Dark brown colour, huge tan head. Nice aroma - some fruit, notes of malts, caramel and bakery, hints of spices. The flavour is malty sweet with plenty of caramel, also raisins (a certain fruitiness) and chocolate. Some hops in the finish. A good beer, but slightly too much on the sweet side."

"NorCal tasting Apr 07 - Another nice beer from the fellows of Petrus. Pours out a dark copper-brownish hue with a nice off-white two finger head. Aroma is a little too subdued for my liking but there was some caramel, brown sugar and a little phenolic. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel malts, which I love. Malts were also slight nutty with some earthy character shining thru. A really nice beer. If the nose was a little stronger, it would get higher marks. Still, a fine beer."
