"Sampled at PP San Clementes Rooftop tasting. How is it that some beer that is coming in at 8-9% can be so bland when this one is so flavorful at 3.7%? Brown pour with a decent head. Malty, nutty nose. Reminds me of a nut brown but better. Light but not watery body. An excellent session brew."

"Took a roadtrip up the Coast Road today, to do some beer and music shopping. Stopped into the Pizza Port Solana Beach location to pick up a few bottles -- and figured "Hell, while I'm here, I might as well grab a quick pint, eh?". This was featured Cask-Conditioned off of their hand-pump, so it was a no-brainer for me what I'd go for here... :)
The epitome of an easy drinking Session beer -- we're only talking about 3.2%ABV here folks! And it's great to see an American brewery do a style that is dying out even back in it's native U.K.
"3.2%!? Bah...! Where's the flavor?" No, on the contrary, kind sir -- this packs in a ton of flavor for such a small package. Nice chocolate notes in the flavor and the mouthfeel through and through.
Not extremely complex (by definition), but a nice quick quaffer, especially off of the hand-pump. A tasty pick-me-up of a drink, that would be a welcome kick-off to an all-day-stay at Pizza Port, if I had the time. But either way, this is a recommendable beer, from an always-recommendable brewpub....

P.S. The name refers to the old moniker of the morning FM radio show that would later became simply The Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw Show...."

"Medium brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is malt, dark fruit and sweet. A medium bodied mild. Malts are fruity, malty and sweet. Mild flavors. Slightly spicy hops. A nice mild. Would be a great session beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet."

"Had this on draft at P.P. San Clemente’s Nov roof top party in November 2004. This is a very nice Mild Ale. This pours a clear reddish brown color and has a malty nose. The flavor is slightly sweet. This beer is an extremely easy to drink beer, but very flavorful. It’s a session ale, by defintion, at 3.7% abv, but who cares about the alcohol level when you have nice flavor"

"I did not feel this one, but its got the english bitter feel to it so thats mostly why. Looked like an old penny with a lill head. Rememinded me of blarney stoned, yet only if the blarney was really funky and english bitterlike."
