Brewery Description:
After more than 130 years, Whitby once again has a brewery.
During the nineteenth century, Whitby was home to 3 breweries. Mr. Jacob Ckonk was Whitby’s first brewer, from the 1820’s, for about 10 years. During the 1840’s, Noah G. Nash ran Nash’s Brewery in Port Whitby. Whitby’s longest running brewery was run by Charles Clark on Ash Street from 1843 until 1863.
In 1844, 120 barrels of beer were shipped out of the Port of Whitby. The Port of Whitby Brewing Company thanks those who began it all!
