It has a distinctive nutty, woody flavor, with toffee and honey on the nose.

"500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.5%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Decent and lingering creamy tan head. The slug-like "trail" of the head down the side of the glass as you drink has allegedly given the beer its name - together with the fact that the brewers had to "fight" slugs coming into the brewery at the old premises. (As we know, slugs LOVE beer.) Pleasant aroma of prunes, mild coffee and chocolate. Roasty flavour, fairly dry, notes of coffee, dark bread and chocolate. Some fruity notes in the finish, "coffee" aftertaste. A decent porter with a moderate ABV."

"Dark brown, small light brown head. Aroma of plums and dark unsweetend chocolate. Loads of black coffee in flavour with traces of mocca, and dried fruit. Long intense aftertaste of coffee, burnt malt, hay and caramel. Feels bigger than 4.5 ABV.."

"Bottle conditioned. Close to black looking with a slim beige head. Lovely chocolatey aroma, with coffee, licorice and some dark fruit. Taste; it could do with more alcohol, but good nontheless; similar but less pronounced elements as in the aroma, light bodied. I should like to try the cask version. "

"Dark muddy brown in color with a nice head to it. Good aroma of roasted/burnt malts. Mouthfeel wavered a bit, sometimes weak and watery and other times harsh and almost astringent. Bitterness was present throughout the brew, especially in the finish. Quite hoppy for a porter."

"Pours black with a shorter, less creamy head than average porters. It earned one point back in appearance because of nice lacing. The aroma boasts earthy malts and a hint of licorice. The flavor balances dry roasted malt against sweet toffee and a piney accent. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated, and easy to drink. Nice for session drinking."
