Young Rodenbach is mixed with Rodenbach which has matured for at least two years in oaken casks. Scintillating dark, richly smelling beer.

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 8.45oz or 250ml bottle into a snifter.
Appearance: It had a deep reddish brown color with some visible carbonation. Its head was small and slightly pinkish tan color. The head slowly recedes, leaving some nice lace behind on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has sweet and sour fruity notes with some sharp acidic cider vinegar notes.
Taste/Mouth feel: Wow very interesting! The range of flavor is amazing. It starts off with sour apple cider vinegar notes over a light malty flavor. This quickly turns to a more sweet/tart fruity flavor with cherry notes and some hints of musty oak. Next up is a slightly dry, mild earthy bitterness. For the finish it turns back to a semi-dry, tart/sour flavor that slowly fades off the tongue. It’s about medium bodied and the carbonation feels light and a bit fizzy.
Notes: This is a very complex and interesting beer. It is a slow sipper that is very enjoyable small amounts.

"My first Flemish Sour and I am impressed. The cork pops with carbonation. A reddish-brown bodied beer poured into the glass. The off white head is, though weak and doesn’t stay around very long, settling into lumps of soapy lacing. Reminds me of a red wine I used to forget was in the refrigerator and gave it a try. But this is no where as unpleasant as that example. There is tart cherries and wine vinegar in the nose and palate, dominating anything else that might be part of this beer. "

"I have read about sour ales, and they sounded real intriguing. When I saw this, I recognized the name and bought it immediately. Smells a bit like a wine that has just turned a little bad. Looks like dark cherry juice...the carbonation is so slight that you can barely see it. The head is slightly tan, and has a pinkish hue to it when looked down into it from above. Tastes like a heavy burst of sour/tart fruit -- apples/ cherries/grapes. No alcohol in the flavor, or at least none shows through the sour fruit. I don't know if other sour ales are this one-dimensional; I will have to conduct further research. My hypothesis is that even if there were other flavors present, they would drown in a tarty sea. I do like this, but a smaller bottle would be greatly appreciated."

"not a beer i would recommend for a belgian beer drinker. never had a flemish sour before and if this is it, i dont want it. its bitter, vinegar taste reminds me of a wine. a small, narrow taste in the mouth with that lingering sour taste that doesnt leave you wanting more"

"This beer poured with a deep brownish amber body topped off by a light brown head that left little to no lace. Aroma is very sour and slightly funky with some light fruity tones. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly acidic. The flavor was tart cherry and apple up front with a very sour red wine vinegar flavor that lasts throughout."
