Brewery Description:
Founders of Ryburn Brewery, Harold and Shirley Coburn, began work on the construction of their plant as long ago as 1989 in a small business unit at a former dyeworks at Mill House, Sowerby Bridge. The initial aim was to brew a good quality quaffing beer which would appeal to the ordinary drinker. Brewing of a 1038 og. beer called Ryburn Bitter began soon after the grant of a licence to brew in July 1990, with early outlets being established at the William IV and Brothers Grimm in Sowerby Bridge.
