The gentle rain and fertile soil of Ireland helped inspire this style of ale, known for being remarkably balanced. Pale and Caramel malts give the beer its rich, deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor. The sweetness of the malt is pleasantly balanced by a pronounced hop bitterness and an earthy note from the East Kent Goldings hops. Samuel Adams® Irish Red finishes smooth and leaves you wanting to take another sip.
Samuel Adams® Irish Red is our third beer to be deemed "A Beer of the People." It earned this title by winning our 2007 Beer Lover’s Choice® campaign. This was the third time we asked American beer lovers to choose our next brew. Elected by more than 42,000 people across the United States, Samuel Adams® Irish Red is our twist on a classic Irish brew. Originally brewed in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1710, Irish Red Ales are rich in flavor, yet smooth and balanced, making them ideal for warm, sunny days, yet pleasantly cozy during the chilly ones.
Samuel Adams® Irish Red is brewed with two-row Harrington, Metcalfe and Caramel 60 malted barley. The Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley provide most of the body and sweet backbone of the beer, while the Caramel 60 contributes to the deep red color that defines the style. To balance all of that sweetness, we use earthy East Kent Goldings and Spalt-Spalter hops. Their subtle bitterness and aroma provide a delicate complexity to the brew.

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Its body is dark reddish copper in color and it has nice clarity. The head is average size, light tan in color and fades down to thin covering.
Smell: The aroma is sweet and malty with hints of caramel and toffee.
Taste/Mouth feel: The favor is much the same as the aroma with a malty character and light mild hops in the background. Its finish is smooth and clean with a medium body and a smooth creamy texture.
Notes: This is a very easy drinking beer with simple pleasing flavor.

"It has a sweet, malty aroma and has some roasty spice. The appearance is its best quality with a deep and rich dark red with a tan head that is full on top. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and complex. The flaver is creamy and sweet and very pleasureable with hints of sweet spices. Overall, I like this one and is a reasonable cost as well. "

"Bottle: Poured a deep caramel color ale with a huge light brown color head with some good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma consists of strong caramel malt with some nice touch of toffee. Taste is a mix between some deep rich and somewhat sweet caramel malt notes with some nice touch of toffee which were not expected but well enjoyed. Fuller body then expected with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Body is lot more creamy then expected and overall I enjoyed this beer a lot more then I had expected."

"Pours cloudy brown with tall, fading head. Molasses dominates the aroma. The malt flavor is earthy and a little musty with a clean finish. Light bodied, but not watery, with moderate carbonation."
