Saranac Oatmeal Stout is brewed with a delicate balance of the finest oats, malt, hops and our traditional ale yeast. Look for a sweet, dark chocolate and roasted taste. Cheers!

"Well, it is Christmas Day and it is cloudy outside when even a bit of sleet so I cracked a stout from Saranac. Aroma is of burnt and roasted malt with some oats coming through as well as some nice bittering aromas and some dark chocolate and coffee with even some creamy vanilla. Appearance is a very deep mahogany to cheastnut-brown in color when held to the light with a full head on top that is light-brown in color and diminishes to a thin and creamy lacing that adheres to the glass. Mouthfeel is robust and smooth with coimplexities of roasted malt as well as some nice balance and offers a palate that is a bit dry but creamy and smooth and is well-rounded. Flavor is of roasted malt and some burnt wood with an aftertaste that is of earthy oats and sweetness with a finish that offers some light bittering nuances and is a tad dry but very hearty and tasty and perfect for this kind of a day. Overall, nice brew here and worth sampling and definitely recommended and one of the best Saranac brews I have had; Merry Christmas to all!!!! "

"Pours a deep cola color. Head is nice and thick, tan. Aroma is burnt caramels, toffee, can't smell the oatmeal nor taste it. Tastes weak, oats, malts and sweet."

"The roasted coffee-like aroma was fairly nice and the beer poured a deep brown color with a bit of lacing, which was nice looking. However, the taste was metallic and kind of blah. "

"Awkward taste. Oat Stout. Just misses all the needs of the style. No bite. no style. Saranac maybe is trying to make to many styles. More water than malt."

"Poured a dark brown, prunish color with a medium sized, light tan head, that quickly diminished, leaving very light lacing on the glass. Aroma of mild roasty notes, a light amount of chocolate, but also some metal in there as well. More roast and metal in the taste, oats, faint chocolate, but a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. While not my favorite oatmeal stout, it was better than I expected."
