This ale boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color.

"I've become an fan of SN... pours deep, clear, copper with a thin head. Well-versed in the yeast, malt and hops... intensely good. Sligthly thin in the mouth with a crisp, clean finish. "

"A rough tough and delicious brew. Pours bright copper color, short lived head. Aroma with yeasty hop character. Higher alcohol typical of a barley wine, but chorus of complex flavors provides a wonderful worthwhile flavor nugget. This us a seasonal brew so grab it while you can! "

"First I have to say I am a fan of SN and am a hop-head. That out of the way - on to the review.
Pours a smooth amber with a creamy head that releases the aroma nicely. Nose is sharp with hops, honey, and cedar. Very earthy. Flavor is amazing for an ale. I, personally woud put this in IPS country. Silky smooth mouthfeel, with bright citrus (grapefruit, passionfruit, and a touch of bitter orange and slight notes of lemongrass). Caramel and silky light milk chocolate hide in the finish. Interseting brew. Flavor is clean and and bright. Finish is surprisingly clean. Hoppy and and bright, earthy notes of lemongrass, bitter citrus, and notes of honey and cedar in the finish. This is the second bottle out of a 6-pack that I am on. I am impressed - as a hop head. I have some steak currently soaking in some for a marinade - among other things. I am sure this will make a great session beer and an excellent brew to cook with.
Slainte!!!"

"Pretty darn good beer. Nice and crisp with a light aroma and taste. Very strong. It's bascially a Sierra Nevada pale ale on steroids. The bar that I go for this only sells it by the pint because of it's alcohol content. And at $5 a glass it drinks very slowly."

"Third American Barleywine rated that night in Toronto (I think in 2007) and found notes around the house. Pours a dark brown colour and has better lacing than the Rogue Old Crustacean and Anchor Old Foghorn. The nose is nutty with mild dark fruits aromas. Good nutty taste as well and well-balanced bitterness (more than the Anchor, and less than the Rogue). Dark fruit aftertaste with some caramel. Refreshing, kind of watery, mouthfeel with a little tartiness. A very well-blended barleywine."
