A traditional brown ale brewed with a blend of roasted and caramelized malts, as well as the renowned British aromatic Goldings hops. This dark and flavorful ale is medium-bodied, with a delightful malt character.

"Bottle courtesy of Monger: Poured a deep brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with light hops. Taste is dominated by caramel and light molasses malt with a clean dry finish with some light hops. Body is pretty full for the style with some good carbonation. I thought this was very good for a style, which is too often boring. "

"2006 label. Pretty sweet, as to be expected, with a faintly recognizable flash of hops at the very end. I thought this would be a bit more hoppy than it was, considering the brewer. A lot of caramelly sweetness up front. Nicely carbonated. Not much "bite," making this one rather smooth going down. A good beer, but probably not something I'll seek out again."

"Pours a hazey, semi clear brown colour with a medium tan head. Rumbles full of nuttiness, fresh roasted coffee, vanilla and maple syrup. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, othewise smooth and creamy- lots of sweet, not overly rich roasted malt and nutty flavors."
