The two eleven mark, based on the medieval symbol for steel, appears only on Steel Reserve(R) High Gravity lager. We use nearly twice the ingredients of many normal lagers & brew for over twice as long as many quality beers.

"I love trappist ales. Chimay, Unibroue, and Ayinger's Celebrator come to mind. But drink just the 'elite' beers and you're a snob. You've got to dip into the poor man's stash to be a real beer lover. Steel Reserve is most likely made from the lowest-grade grain on planet Earth. That means it's a real basic, sugar-yeast-water mixture with lots of alcohol. To a student of the beer world, that counts for something. SR is the lowest common denominator of beer as it stands today, and it's at 8.1% ABV. I'll drink this before the standard commercial stuff like Budweiser, Corona or Heineken. Why? It doesn't taste any worse than what you'll find in the grocery store (I'll say it again... Bud... Corona... Heineken...) and you get more bang for the buck. Just make it really ice cold, which isn't hard to do these days with the invention of the freezer.
I don't think twice of filling my shopping cart with Ayinger Celebrator, Unibroue Maudite, Unibroue La Fin Du Monde, and Steel Reserve. 211 in full effect!"

"I won't drink Bud, I won't drink Miller, and I won't drink Pabst. Not even to get drunk. I prefer mostly foreign beers. I prefer, in order: Xingu, Mackeson XXX, Guiness, and Sam Adams Cream Stout. I don't know how well those are reviewed on this site. I -do- know that I signed up to defend Steel Reserve 211 after googling it for one reason or the other and finding the abysmal reviews here. I like this beer. Yeah, I like Steel Reserve on a night when I want to sit around and get buzzed or trashed, but there are so, so many worse beers. Unlike Miller, Bud, and Pabst this beer has an actual beer flavor. It has a strong body in my mouth where others in this price range taste weak, like piss water. I need a strong beer flavor, and I find it in the can, here. It's the only cheap beer where I can pretend like I'm drinking beer instead of brackish sewer water. When I'm light in the wallet, I got straight to Steel Reserve, because I'm not a complete wimp like that guy who got a headache 'after his buzz left.' I like big, meaty beer when I have money to burn and this can has some meat in it."

"Unless its ice fucking cold i cannot for the life of me choke down this beer. It looks fine in the bottle but as soon as you crack the cap its all downhill from there. Smells like some drunk pissed in my apple juice and labeled it 211. Little to no taste of hops or grains of any kind.
I have a beer stomach; Ive pounded 40oz of other American lagers, but this almost killed me. On a higher note, its a great beer for an Edward 40-hands party cuz it fucks you up pretty fast without you knowing it."

"Although I have given this beer a mediocre (at best) review, I must say that it doesn't live up to its terrible reviews by others or its terrible legacy. I greatly enjoy this beer. To me, it tastes great, and has a high alcohol content, plus it is cheap, to boot. For some reason, I absolutely love the taste of this beer after a hard summer's day of working on the fields on my property. (I live in the heartland of the south, in the extreme western central region of Georgia). I do not feel any remorse about calling this my favorite beer to drink in the summer. My other favorite beer (for the winter months) is Rolling Rock Pale Ale. Think of me what you will, but I am a die-hard fan of Steel Reserve. In my opinion, people pay way too much attention to the classic "Steel Reserve sucks and is piss" mentalities. I think it is a great inexpensive beer that has the added bonus of being cheap and having a higher alcohol concentration. I personally love Steel Reserve and would buy it over anything else in the summer months.

"Man do i love this stuff. Kiss all memory of the night before good bye, this stuff gets you messed up at a street hobos price, i mean $1.79 a 40oz you can't beat that. A lot of people hate this beer but i love it, i got the 211 tattoo on my hand. This beer may not be in the class as imported beers but its better then most American beers."
