We're really happy with this year's Stone 06.06.06 Vertical Epic Ale. This is a very dark ale fermented with Belgian Trappist yeast, so the flavors in it are really deep and complex. The Belgian yeast clove notes combine nicely with the roast malt flavors, with dried cherry and anise undertones. The flavors imparted by the special roasted malt are very rich, smooth, and silky. It will be interresting to see how this beer ages, and how the smooth roasted malt characters evolve with the spicy Belgian yeast character over time.

"It's been over a year between bottles and I can say that I think I like it a little bit better with some age on it. The beer poured out a mahogany brown color with a three finger thick, light tan head. Aroma has a hefty dose of roasted malts, and dark fruits with an underlying spicy/yeast character that I enjoyed. Flavors had similar tasted like the nose, but the sweetness factor was ramped up a notch or two. A very smooth beer and probably my favorite so far out of this series."

"Clear, dark brown with a warm, reddish hue and a beige head. Aroma of yeast and dried fruit. Fairly full-bodied, sweet and very fruity with some accents of dried fruits shining through in particular. Lightly vinous notes and a touch of oak."
