The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish!

"Tried this as part of a beer tasting last week. Poured a hazy gold with white head and visable lacing. It wasn't as high ABV as I thought it would be which was a nice surprise. Lots of aromas and flavors. The strongest being a overall sweetness with lemon or orange notes. I wouldn't want a pint of this but a snifter was quite enjoyable."

" Pours out in a slightly hazy golden color with a small white foam. Sweet, yeast, quite sugary aroma of oranges, red apples and apricots with notes of cumin and cinnamon. Full-bodied with a strong but still with unrefined and raw sugary flavours of candied oranges, soap and asprcots. Spicy finish of cinnamon with notes of flowers, tangerine and alcohol. I’m not overly impressed. A tad better than the 070707."

"Shared a bottle of this with my older brother. Don’t know why it took me this long to get the rating on here, but now I have. Aroma is extremely floral, spicy with a nice kick of fruity esters, tropical frutis. Flavor has a great hop profile, solid malt backbone, vanilla and cloves. Long bitter finish. I should be able to put together a nice veritcal in 2013.

"This is probably the most complex beer that I've been able to tell what the complexities where. Partly a hop heavy IPA type flavor and mouthfeel, yet a spicy (coriander?) malty tastes as well. Very good. Obviously I couldn't wait 'til 12.12.12."
