Stronger than the regular Arrogant Bastard and more tasteful with a slight kick!

"2007 release. Now this is one fine beer. I love Arrogant Bastard so I was not only very happy to find a bottle of this on a road trip but I also had high expectations. The Double Bastard didn't let me down! Pours a reddish color, nice clarity, with a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, cherries, alcohol and some pine. The flavors are sharp and delicious. Lots of sweet caramel malt, some toffee, with a blast of hops, pine and some grapefruit. Finishes bitter with just a little alcohol showing but my palate adjusted quickly (or bowed down to it's goodness) and this was just so damn tasty. A wonderful brew that I can't wait to have again. Definitely deserving of a spot near the top of my list. "

"Pours a dark amber color with a big lasting beige head. Aroma of grapefruit/orange as in citrusy hops and sweet malts and a bit of biscuit. Flavor is malty sweetness with caramel, bready, and lots of hops. Bitter finish with some mild alcohol notes peeking out. Mouthfeel is quite full. "

" Aroma is great- awesome strong malt sweetness. You can almost feel the stickiness from the smell. appearance is burnt orange and opaque- nice look, decent off white head. Good body, CO2 is good, malt mouthfeel is strong even with the hops. Flavor is where it crosses up for me. Just too bitter, and not the good bitter, a resin-ess, sticky bitter. There is a sweetness that comes across at the beghinning, a nice strong one, but it is beaten back by a solid punch of hop bitterness. I gotta say i got no hop aroma from this, and no hop flavor (except bitterness). I do love IPA's to let you know it's just not that i don't like bitter beers... I gotta say i'm typing as i review, and i'm getting a bit used to the bitterness, and it's tasdting a bit better....i just adjusted my rating a bit...."

"Beer pours dark caramel brown with solid two fingered head and immense lacing. Strong aroma of piney hops. Flavor was lots of piney hops with super loads of caramel and some fruitiness (apples?). A pretty high level of bitterness, reminiscent of the regular AB, but with a much higher sweetness level as well. Pretty well balanced. A HUGE beer of immense proportions."

"I am not the biggest fan of stone but this was a really good beer. An American Barleywine. Pous amber with some head. Very crisp in taste and finish. I will have this brew again"
