This deep amber ale has rich & roasty malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol.

"June 2009 - Beer pours with a fluffy head and a beautiful amber/copper color. The aroma was prominant hoppage, but the flavor was a fairly balanced amber ale, full of caramel with some citrusy hops that may have been a little hoppier than a typical amber, but not as much as I expected from this one. A fairly good session beer, even though there are equally enjoyable options at a lesser price tag."

"Pours dark red brown, low to no head but good lacing. Aroma is faint and earthy. Mouthfeel chewy and hoppy, but also watery all the same. All in all flavor is smoked hops with a sweet malt backing. It's OK, but seems a bit out of balance to me or else I'm just having a bad day."

"Nice clear amber pour with a medium white head and some lacing. Slight citrus and earthy hops aroma balanced with a healthy dose of malts. Taste is much bigger than the 4.4% abv with slight sweet malts followed by a nice hops flavor. Very nice amber that drinks "big" while being a regular Joe. Another one off of the wish list."

"Hoppy and easy to drink but the sum of flavors doesn’t work for me. I like that Stone is selling a low abv beer, and they’re doing a pretty good job at packing a big flavor into a little beer. However, something about the combination of citric hops and spicy caramel malt doesn’t really work for me. The beer pours a medium mahogany with a nice head that laces the glass well. The aroma is heavy on American hops with a good grapefruit flavor. There’s also a very nice, light caramel malt note. I love good session beers, but this one doesn’t quite come together. The flavors just seem at odds with each other on the palate. Carbonation is good, and the beer is otherwise well-crafted. It really comes down to some kind of ethereal, entirely subjective reaction. I think that I’m mostly reacting to the malt choices, but it could be anything. So, I’d recommend this beer, but I’m also not going to go out and buy it for myself. "

"This beer was another great offering by Stone. I think the thing about this beer that I liked was the big flavor without the big alcohol. This beer is worth trying; however, I would try and get it in a single if you can - a 6 pack is around $18.00 where I live."
