"Finally I have a chance to sit down and enjoy this brew as I write this review.
I have had this a few times and it has become another favorite. Since I am a fan of Stone, I will try and avoid bias.
Pours a rich sunrise caramel color, dense in body. Head is floral with sweet citriusand sugared clove. First sip is deceptive. It takes a few pulls to grasp the complexity of this brew. I shared this with several friends just last week and many asked what it was and wanted to go out and buy some to have at home. A real hit among the typical bud/miller/mass-produced swill crowd. A few did exactly that and again shared with me just how much they enjoyed this brew.
Back to the review:
Flavor is balanced with clove and orange, sweet caramel, and lemon citrius zest. Hoppy without being overwhelming. Maybe with a 6 to 12 month rest, the sweetness will mellow out and enhance the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is appropriately textured, balanced. Fresh lemonade all grown up with a world traveled behind you.
Finish is staged, you get the sweet caramel, pine, and citrus followed by earthy hopps and cinnamon. I really don't get the 11.3 ABV, but others do. Best part is the warmness that hits you mid-belly after the first few sips. Best served under 65 deg, colder than 58 deg, the flavor profile is lost. "

""You know how when you go to a restaurant, they call out your name? Like "Dufrain, party of two... Dufrain, party of two." And if no one answers, they'll say it again "Dufrain, party of two, Dufrain, party of two." But then if no one answers, they'll just move on the next name: "Bush, party of three." What happened to the Dufrains? They're missing, and no one cares. Right now, they're tied up in the trunk of someone's car, with duct tape over their mouths, and they're hungry. That's a triple whammy! "Bush, search party of three. You can eat once you've found the Dufrains." 2008 .. .. Wishlist cross-off: put on originally 9/30/2006"

"Stone delivers another winner. A bourbon colored ale. Light, clear, reddish-orange. Small creamy off white head, little hang time, though. Aroma is alcohol notes with some sweetness. Smooth and creamy body, like drinking a bourbon. The alcohol and piney hops dominate the taste, but never in an offensive way. I liked it!"

"Vintage 2005. Pours a clear red with almost no head. Smells of roasted caramel malts and alcohol. The flavor is rich and well-balanced with a bit of a warming sensation from the alcohol. I enjoyed this one but I would like to try a new one to see if age changed this one at all."
