"2008 limited release, 11.26 abv. I have been wanting to try this for a while and was fortunate to find it at Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Pours an amber/orange color with a thin head but it sticks around. Aroma is a lot of sweet malt, vanilla, fruity, particularly grapefruit, and a touch of alcohol. This is a wonderful tasting barleywine with many layers adding to it's complexity. The flavors are sweet malts, sherry, tart cherries, oak, a dark fruit note and finishes off with grapefruit hops. Not a lot of bitterness but some mild alcohol burn and although you know the alcohol is in it the 11.26% hides quite well. A nice representation of the style and a beer that makes for a great evening. "

"This brew poured a dark orange color with a tan head that lasted a few minutes. The aroma is sweet like dark fruit and nuts, it realy is a wonderful aroma. The mouthfeel in just below what i would call thick. There is a heavier consisntency though. The flavor is sweet as well but has a bitter aftertaste. It taste like a traditional barleywine with and alchohol subnote. Some againg would do this brew wonders. Overall I like this beer alot, it is good fresh, but would much better aged."

"2008 Limited Early Release - 11.26% ABV. Worth every penny! Pours an orangish-amber with a nice, but somewhat fleeting creamy head. Aroma gives away the strength, but is well balanced. Good hop note with some citrus over tones. This one will sneak up on you so be prepared."

"22oz bottle, early 2008 release, served in a small tulip glass.
Hazy, honey colored brew with a good sized tan head that fell to a ring, leaving some lacing on the glass.
The aromas piney hops and cherries fill my nose.
This is a med/full bodied brew with mild carbonation.
The taste is a bit hot when fresh, and it is also bitter with hops. With aging this beer's flavor changes, but it's very tasty when fresh. Buy 2 (or more) bottles if you can, so you can drink some now and have more in 6-12 months from now.
Overall this is a Barley Wine worth trying. "

"From a bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a thin white head. Aroma is strong of alcohol, but with an underlying fruit/maltiness. Falvor is surprisingly hoppy with a nice malt balance. Alcohol presense is strong as well. A good barley wine, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Thanks to Caddy for picking this bottle up for me."
