"Another winner from stone brewery. This brew is big, nice dark butterscotch color, a bit hazy slight head. Bold alcohol bite as one would expect from a barley wine. Flavor is hoppy and rich in total not a smooth as some of the Stone offerings, but still a good purchase when it comes your way."

"I've only tried this once. Not a great beer. Colour - dark rust/copper, off-white wispy head. Aroma - fruity, esters, some malt. Mouthfeel - medium and creamy. Flavour - very sweet, too sweet. Overall - not bad but not great."

"Beautiful deep hazy orange copper pour with a very tight medium sized head leaving lots of heavy lacing. Big aromas of caramel, ripe fruit - plums, dates, peaches and citrus too - oranges, with a brandy-like nose, and then the hops, earthy and welcome. Taste of the rich caramel and sweet ripe fruits are upfront with thick mouthfeel and a nice hops bitter. Heavy and big beer that is worthy. Another one off the wish list."

"Pours a beautiful, appetizing, dark honey-golden copper with a thick, fluffy, orangy-beige head. Aroma is strong, fruity and a little yeasty and malty. Fruity, brandy-like flavor has a strong alcohol bite just like a good barleywine. It has hints of malt, hops and even caramel. Texture is lively and fizzy, and the alcohol bite is fierce!"

"Finally I have a chance to sit down and enjoy this brew as I write this review.
I have had this a few times and it has become another favorite. Since I am a fan of Stone, I will try and avoid bias.
Pours a rich sunrise caramel color, dense in body. Head is floral with sweet citriusand sugared clove. First sip is deceptive. It takes a few pulls to grasp the complexity of this brew. I shared this with several friends just last week and many asked what it was and wanted to go out and buy some to have at home. A real hit among the typical bud/miller/mass-produced swill crowd. A few did exactly that and again shared with me just how much they enjoyed this brew.
Back to the review:
Flavor is balanced with clove and orange, sweet caramel, and lemon citrius zest. Hoppy without being overwhelming. Maybe with a 6 to 12 month rest, the sweetness will mellow out and enhance the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is appropriately textured, balanced. Fresh lemonade all grown up with a world traveled behind you.
Finish is staged, you get the sweet caramel, pine, and citrus followed by earthy hopps and cinnamon. I really don't get the 11.3 ABV, but others do. Best part is the warmness that hits you mid-belly after the first few sips. Best served under 65 deg, colder than 58 deg, the flavor profile is lost. "
