Stone Smoked Porter is dark, rich and complicated. A porter is substantially darker than a pale ale, but not aw black or opaque as a stout. Our smoked Porter has a captivatingly deep mahogany color, complimented by silky dark tan head. Rich, full bodied and robust. Smooth, with chocolate and coffee like flavors balanced by the subtle "smokey" character of just the right amount of peat-smoked specialty malt.

"Bottle pour is black with a strange reddish hue. A thin white/tan head appears that dissipates to 1 cm and laces nicely. Aroma is of chocolate burning on a log. Appearance is thin and watery, which is odd. It tastes like a burnt marshmellow. It is a tad underwhelming, but it's a great early fall beer. It doesn't stand up to the top porters, which is a letdown for Stone, but its still a fantastically unique beer. "

"Stones smoked porter poured a black body, quickly disappearing tan head. Aroma was rather faint of chocolate, roasted malt, even a little fruit. Mouthfeel was a little thin but o.k. The smoked flavor is nice but goes away rapidly leaving the roasted malt aftertaste. Overall it is a fairly decent brew but i agree with Norsebrews opinion."

"This is a good smoked porter but it just doesn't blow my socks off like the rest of the Stone line of beers. It has a nice smokey aroma, but the taste seems to be lacking. It's worth a try, but doesn't leave me wanting more. "

"I was a bit let down but only because I had very high expectations. Poured a perfect near black with a strong lasting head. Aroma is fantastic with just a hint of smoke. Excellent porter, but IMO the coffee flavor is a bit too dominent and overwhelms the more subtle chocolate."

"Usually I choose Belgian Ales over Porters, but I was looking for something with a little less ABV. This Porter is great. Better then the Baltica which I also like. The "smoked" part is true. I tasted a slight smoked taste that was excellent. Very smooth to drink. Kind of heavy, but tasty."
