This is our unfiltered American version of the classic English India Pale Ale. Brewed with 10% rye malt (hence the name) and loaded with five native-grown American hop varieties. Four are added during the boil, the fifth is "dry hopped" during fermentation. Dry hopping gives our Rye P.A. a delightful fresh hop aroma, backed by an aggressive but well-balanced hop flavor and bitterness. A true brew for the "Hop Head"

"I was in the Mellow Mushroom in Savannah, GA for lunch and noticed the decent set of taps they had up on the wall. One of which I'd heard of before was the Terrapin Beer Company products. So I had to try them out when I visited later on in the evening. The Terrapin Rye was the one product from this brewery that I heard many good things about.
In the pint glass, this one has a medium amber color to it with a hint of orange mixed in there. The head was fairly small and white and quickly dissolved. The aroma was interesting. It was part hops, part sweet malts, and part grains.
This one tastes pretty good, but in a way I think it's almost trying to be similar to the Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale. Or maybe the 420 is like that. I'm not sure which came first. It does have a very similar palate and flavor though. The flavors are moderately sweet and have a hint of grapefruit mixed in with the light hoppyness.
Again, this is very similar to the Sweetwater 420, with the 420 being a little more interesting in the flavors. Not to say this is a bad brew though. In fact, it is a very enjoyable brew that I think could get a lot of entry level beer drinkers into beers with some decent hops. "

"A light orange brew pours into my glass holding up a weak head that settles into less than a lacing. There’s a faint bread and more fruit in the nose. There’s a lot of orange-citrus on the palate. There’s more fruity bitter-sweetness and some floral hops in the aftertaste. All in all a decently refreshing brew."

"A dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy combined with lighter notes of grass and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of rye malt and lots of grassy hoppy notes as well as light notes of grapefruit."

"A pretty good Pale Ale but nothing spectacular. Copper color with a head that settles down quickly. Aroma is rather clean with some grapefruit hops, citrus fruits and maybe a touch of malt. The beer is easy drinking and refreshing. There's some grapefruit hops in there with some flowery, citrus notes and it finishes slightly bitter. Some hops in the aftertaste. Pretty solid but nothing that jumps out and says wow. I just bought a 4 pack of the Rye Squared so I look forward to what this x 2 tastes like. "

"This might suffer in comparison to my beloved WC beers, but honestly I gave it a fair shake and it's an average pale ale. It's weakness (at least in this beer) was the fact it was lemony pine-sol in the nose which was a bit let down. I never got any rye in either the nose or the flavor, soooo this is just a regular pale ale. Aroma is lemony, pine-sol, lightly sweetened. Appearance is a medium orange in color with a big three finger thick head. Mouthfeel is too carbonated for my liking. Flavor just doesn't have enough juicy, fruity malts for my tastes. Lemony, slighty floral and a touch spicy (maybe that's the rye?). In the end, it's not bad and I could drink one again. Nothing really special though."
