"Pulled from the cask at the Dog & Duck in Soho on 2/1/08. A perfectly clear golden color with a rich creamy white head. Bready nose with light hop aroma. Pleasant full mouthfeel, flavors are well balanced with light malt and slight hop bitterness. "

"I have the good fortune to live 10 miles from the brewery - so its readily available nearby - I drink it often.
A good classic & genuine yorkshire beer, light and slightly sweet - locally served it has a creamy head but little spritz in the ale itself. Aroma is I think a disapointment & somehow lacking. Its not very bitter or hoppy. However - somehow it is easily recognisable.
This isnt a 'great' beer to examine & ponder - but a good, honest session beer to enjoy drinking by the pint in company.
In bottle - a close match to the real thing (except the CO2 of course).
I value this as a true yorkshire beer, not trying to be anything else - thats what makes it great."

"Copper coloured, nice foamy white head. Aroma mainly citrus fruits and hops. Flavour is like a standard bitter, fruity hoppy. Aftertaste is kind of dry and fruitish hoppy. "

"Superb hoppy bitter, Golden in colour but as traditional as a Bitter comes. Reeks of quality, and has won more gold medals and Camra awards than almost any other beer in England. Unusually, also very good as a bottled beer."

"While I was unable to comply with Darren's semi-mandatory directive that I "simply *must* make my way to The Blue Anchor in Helston, Cornwall...!!", I was at least able to pick up a sample of this much-lauded English Pale Ale. "Sorry dude -- it's not cask-conditioned, but the next best thing, I expect!" Picked up a bottle of this from a small convience store in Fowey (Cornwall), and popped it open on an otherwise quiet Wednesday night here in SoCal.
Wow. Immediately reminded me of the the time I popped open my first (and thus far only) sample of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. That is to say, this beer's aroma reaches far and wide from the very start. And while the Two-Hearted is an all-Centennial IPA, and this beer is (mostly) a Saaz-y English Pale Ale, the comparisons are hard to avoid.
Quite close to perfection, when it comes to the flavor profile and mouthfeel of this beer -- and that's putting it mildly, to be honest. How is that boring shite like Bass is distributed world-wide, but this never gets outiside of the United Kingdom?? The world is, indeed, a very unfair place...!
Perfectly quaffable and enjoyable, through and through. One of those rare instances that this is both highly sessionable and highly flavorable. I can't even imagine what this would be like from a well-tended firkin...
Cheers to my mate Darren for pimping this beer, and thus making sure that I grabbed a sample when the opprotunity presented itself. A shame that I didn't grab more of this when I had a chance...!
Highly recommended.
