Brewed to celebrate the anniversary of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion, the ale proved to be so popular it has become a permanent addition to the range. Baded on an eighteenth century recipe the ale is spiced with coriander which gives a remarkabley fresh aftertaste.

"Aroma of fig, raisins and corriander. The body was black with brownish tinges. Mouthfeel was smooth yet it had a little bite despite the lack of carbonation. Flavor of plum. licorice, fig and spices, the alcohol was well hidden. Overall i wouldnt want to drink too many of these in a row its a little to sweet for me, and its overpriced, but it is a good brew thats worth a try."

"Dark brown pour with moderate head and lacing. Good strong spicey aroma. The flavor in this was really strong spices, moderate doppelbock like earthy malts and strong yeastiness. The beer had a decent carbonation level. This was ok, but just wasn’t totally doing it for me."

"This beer pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is very complex. I can smell roasted malt, caramel, floral hoppiness, and some weak spices. The flavour is a more balanced affair with the sweetness being provided by the caramel hints, the spiciness provided by what tastes like cloves, and some bitter hoppy finishes. Great beer!"

"Whoa Mama! Much going on here. Jacobite first of all had absolutely no head what-so-ever on top of the foggy brown hue. Aromas of orange peel, caramel and brandy waft from the snifter. Flavors include oak, coriander, licorice, burnt malt, and Earl Gray tea. The mouthfeel was plain and kind of flat. Jacobite reminded me of the A. LeCoq stout that I had last year, which is not a good thing. I expected more of a Scotch ale quality, not that of Worcestershire sauce.

"I think this tastes a lot like the Unibroue Trois Pistoles. It has a very grape or wine aroma and taste to it. Pours dark and is very pleasant to drink. I thought it was fantastic. "
