Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

"Oh man this beer will cure what ails ya! Ripe grapefruit scent with plenty of lemon and pine on top of a layer of sweet caramel and roasted nuts. Dark amber almost brown in color with a 1" lasting head and heavy lacing. Middle of the road fullness, drinkable and it sticks with you. Crisp and snappy with a mild bitterness. Explosive flavor that tickles the buds. Lightly burnt malt that is nutty and has a good caramel taste. Fresh wheat bread and plenty of flowery hops providing a blast of citrus and evergreen. Astounding treat, I need a whole lot more of this around."

"Poured a deep amber color, with small white head that had good retention and surprising lacing. Aroma was slightly floral, hoppy, sweet? Had a nice medium body, pretty smooth. A fairly hoppy brew, with the bitterness kicking in at the end. To me this tasted just like an IPA. A nice beer."

"Bottle courtesy of Steph: Poured a deep copper color ale with a big foamy white head with some good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of floral and bitter hops is dominating. Taste is a mix between light caramel malt with some bitter hops at the end. Body is about average with some great carbonation. With the level of hops that can be found in this beer it is almost leaning toward an IPA. Very good session beer overall."

"Interesting. An amber ale that really is an IPA. Enjoyed the floral, hoppy taste. Kinda wierd...would rather have that much hop taste a bit more blonde. No lacing to speak of. Would have again."

"This one poured a cloudy golden color with a weak head. It had a nice floral hoppy aroma with a somewhat bitter hopped flavor. It finished smooth with a bitter aftertaste."
