Wadworth have been brewing 6X in their Devizes brewery for over 80 years. This delightful copper-coloured beer has a malty, fruity nose with a restrained hop character.
The same characteristics emerge on the palate but with more intensity, leading to a lingering malty finish. The beer is full bodied and distinctive but with a high drinkability, ensuring its position as one of the South of England's most requested beers. No matter where you are you can be sure that every pint of 6X is handmade in Devizes. 6X is brewed from 93% pale malt, 4% crystal malt and 3% cane sugar. The bitterness units of 22-24 are obtained from Fuggles hops (85% of total) in the copper and Goldings hops (15%) on the hop back plates. Colour rating is 28 .

"This is a copper coloured beer with a small head (I've heard the casked version has a larger head). The aroma is malty with hints of sugar and hops. The flavour is malty with some lingering sweetness. I was not impressed"

"I had this beer in a pub called The Green Man in London. It was a very drinkable bitter. It poured a copper body with a small head. It finished very smooth. Not a bad bitter"

"The body was amber coloured, and the head a frothy white with good lacing. Aroma of some fruity malts, slightly sweet. Mouthfeel was creamy and quite full for a light to medium bodied ale. Flavour profile suggests lots of malts and some caramel, small hints of sweet fruits and then finishes with a rounding bitter from some hops. A good pint."

"Can: Poured a dark amber color ale with small foamy head with minimal retention and some fine lacing. Aroma of dry English malt is present but lacking in floral or fruity aspects. Taste of dry malt is interesting but the missing floral/fruity layer makes it a bit boring and the absence of any notable hops presence also make this as an average offering. "

"Pours a clean amber-copper colour with a decent creamy off-white head that has good retention. Carbonation is very light, with tiny little bubbles, from time to time. Big grainy and bread nose with some yeast. Watery mouthfeel with a bit of stickiness. The taste is nice, with some sweetness, some fruitiness and some light hoppiness. Pretty good bitter."
