"Korbinian pours a dark amber body, thin head with minimal lace left on the glass. Aroma of licorice, caramel malts, and earth. Flavor was similar but with hints of alcohol, and dried fruit, it was a little on the sweet side. Overall a fairly good beer, even though i liked it i probably wouldnt buy again."

"i was excited when i first saw this in my downtown beer store, but it seemed to fall when i popped it open at home... pours with a lack luster head, and has a molasses, toffee strange sugar aroma... 1 in 5 americans has genital herpes... some nice flavours and abv is well hidden but it doesn't really do it for me... happy to try it, happier i won't have to again!!"

"This dopplebock pours a nice dark amber with light brown head. Decent retention on the head. Malty-licorce-yeasty taste. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Warming alcohol effect as a drink."

"Clear reddish brown colour with a small beige foam. Sweet and almost syrupy aroma of brown sugar, dried dark fruit, marzipan and nuts. Full sweet malty and sugary flavour of fudge, milky chocolate, syrup and butter. Long cloyingly sweet aftertaste of dark syrup, almonds and alcohol. Way too sweet, almost like a dark "malt likka"."

[5] Review by Cottrell from Ledyard, CT, USA who has tried this beer a couple times. (7/18/2007 10:19:11 PM)
"Pours dark brown with a thin tan head, that slowly dies to thin whisps. Aroma is huge on molasses, some dark fruits, maple syrup, and liquorice. Flavor starts with maple syrup, molasses, and raisin hints. Some sweet toffee and almond hit midpalate, before finishing out with spicy liquorice and rum. Interesting doppelbock, very rich and sweet, feels much bigger than 7.2%."
