A connoisseur's delight: a dark ale with a malty nutty complexity and layers of flavour.

"My favourite wellington beer so far (havent tried the imperial stout yet) This is a very good dark ale. Nutty and malty but i found it a bit on the thin side. Well balanced and fairly complex and a nice hoppy finish. Will definately drink this again"

"A steady brew with a bit of a kick. Very dark with a decent attack that finishes with a steady buzz. I think this is one of the better brews from the Wellington line."

"Cask: Poured a clear brown color ale with a small head that disappeared quite fast. Aroma is quite weak with some malt being distinguishable with some light hops. Taste is refreshing but very light with some sweet malt and light hops. Body is too thin for my own liking and was expecting more bitterness. Not bad but there is some way better bitter out there."

"Poured a clear deep red cola color, mildly effervescence, the cap lasted a very short life but the lace and ring then hang in for the ride
.
Subtle smells of raisins, fruits and sweet malt odors....slight hint of nutty-spice.
Taste...not as complex as I've been lead to believe but a really well carafted ale. Starts a with a rich mouth full of dried fruit and malts up front..full bodied... raisin bread malty tones with some spice tastes...but it does lack the sharp hop astringency in the finish some crave...but that's ok by me...I like it....finish is long with a sweet- sour -bready after taste and a mild alcohol discernment. The whole swallow comes off as tastfully sweet, rich without hop over balance and with a nice alcohol warming in the finish... Has become a standard ale of mine. ...great brew!
True hop heads may be not be able to dig deep into this one....but for me...I like it as a drinkable brew...a micro ale that doesn't make you endure rough edges to get your hop hit at the expence of a great pronounced blend of malts. There is a rumor this will be retired by the brewer.

"Sampled on tap. Poured a beautiful ruby glowing colour. A smooth mouthfeel but rather empty. I failed to detect any strong flavours. Perhaps some hints of fruit but all the taste was distant and far from robust. Very hard to describe in part to a lack of character. I question the taps though, Id try this again from the bottle. "
