"A lady at the LCBO told me that thios is being discontinued in Ontario in favour of other offerings by different breweries so I decided to grab a couple of the remaining bottles and try it out. The beer is a dark brown colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma is grass, with some fruit hints, and a touch of hops. The flavour is still the grass, but some spiciness creeps in. I liked it. Should have bought the other bottles!"

"500ml bottle
6.90 % ABV
I tried this beer on March 12, 2008 after purchasing from one of the local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a very dark translucent (when held against the light) reddish brown. The head was tan-coloured. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and medium carbonation. The aroma and the flavour were both grainy malt in all it's glory. Almost a chewy maltiness."

"Bottle date is 12/01/02 and I'm drinking it on 12/29/07 and it's still quite nice. I suspect that this is one that can be laid down and will mature nicely in the cellar. It's very sweet, especially the "bottom pour." Black color, poured with a huge head. It has a nice dried fruit aroma, a bit like liquid fruit cake. It tastes a lot bigger than the 6.9% on the label. Rich, sweet malty flavors, with a light bittering finish -- not enough to quell the sweetness, just to make you want to pull another mouthful. I love this, but I'd drink blackstrap molasses from the bottle as well. Not recommended if you like drier bock beers. A good offering from Germany for those who love their sweet stouts and porters. "

"Pours a very dark red/black that is transparent. Aroma of raisins, citrus, and grapes. Mouthfeel is smooth, mild-bodied, and warm. Flavor is sweet of raisins/plums, maybe molasses, and spice. Has a wine-like/sherry flavor to it."

"Pours a very dark, copper red with a creamy head, sweet aroma with some hints of nuts and berries. A little heavy mouth feel, somewhat malty with a smooth finish. I enjoyed this, but a little heavy on the alcohol for me. "
