Inspired by the classic French Farmhouse Ale, our interpretation gets its deep ruby red hue from a hint of caramel and dark chocolate malts. The citrus spice of Saaz hops provides a perfect balance and gives each sip a refreshing, peppery finish.

"This was nice. Dark amber colored body with a big frothy white head. Good hang time. Settles into a low hanging thick film and ringlet. Peppery nose. Dark fruit, yeast, grassy notes and spices (cloves, cinnamon and pepper) all join together to make a medium bodied enjoyment."

"Dark saison, I was thinking it would be a bit darker, but it's more of an amber. Clove, nutmeg, and black pepper. Mild malt sweetness, mellow carbonation, barely burnt caramel, earth and bread crust. Lightly spicy hops. Overall its not really a saison, but a fairly decent beer.

"A nice, unique brew. Some flavor and aromas paralleling a hefe as well as a saison. Sweet and spicy flavor, floral and earthy aroma. A little fuller in body than most saisons but it works. "

"Sampled on 3/30/2012. This saison pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet with a hint of chocolate. A medium bodied saison. The malts are caramel, fruity, chocolately and sweet. The hops are herbal and spicy. Decent carbonation. Interesting beer, its not really a saison in the traditional sense, its not really a dunkel, its maybe somewhere between the two. Pretty drinkable, it seems a touch thin tasting and it probably should finish a touch sweeter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. "

"Picked up a 12-pack without first trying this beer and now regretting that decision. Nothing really great stands out. Typical saison with plenty of pepper and spice, a touch of caramel or molasses and plenty of carbonation."
