"Light gold color, somewhat hazy. Large head. Aroma is wheaty and yeasty. A light bodied hefe-weizen. Malts are fruity and mild. Only a touch of banana and clove flavor. Hops are a touch spicy. Nothing spectacular, but a very nice light and refreshing hefe. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. "

"I picked up a host of German 500mL's from a North County European Deli, to not only quench a thirst but to broaden my horizons!
This is an interesting beer. The label features Santa Claus on the bottlecap, another Santa Claus and a Snowman on the label, with joyous bells in the top corners, and a pointsettia bow in the middle. Odd that the brewery would simply repackage their Hefeweizen to make a "Holiday/Winter" beer, but I guess it works for them.
Poured this into my Hacker-Pschorr wheat beer glass, and was rewarded with lots of classic hefeweizen foam. In addition, the classic German Hefweizen banana/clove aroma, though not as much as I would like from this style.
Enjoyable taste and flavor profiles, with just the right amount of "twang" that marks most fine German-style wheat beers. But why the head of foam disappeared, or why the aroma never did come into it's own, is a bit of mystery. Clean and drinkable, for the most part.
This is a "fine" hefeweizen -- as if to say, "All you have is Will-Bräu Hefe Weizen? Well..., ok, that's fine". Plenty of better hefe's out there (from both sides of the Atlantic), but I wouldn't turn this one down too fast, either.
