this one was very smooth and you could taste a little of the wood. a good beer, but for a 10% imperial stout, i was expecting and wanting just a bit more.

Bottle courtesy of Turdfurgeson: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a big foamy head with some good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma of sweet and rich malt notes are dominating with some roasted notes from the malt. Taste is also dominated by some rich sweet malt with some light bitter roasted malt notes. The oak is not very apparent apart from maybe some very subtle vanilla notes. Body is a bit thin but has some nice creamy feature with good carbonation. Interesting but not as complex as I was expecting.

I agree with previous reviews that the aroma is rather lacking, however once you taste this dark stout you will be pleasantly surprised. My mug had about 3/4 inch of a light tan head. I couldn't taste the oak conditioned but detected a nice combination of malt, bitterness, chocolate and coffee. A VERY NICE IMPERIAL STOUT!

Pours a dark, dark brown with a pale chocolate milk-foam head. The aroma is rich chocolate and cookie. The oak is so subdued in this beer as to be almost negligible. A very nice nuttiness (perhaps as much from the barrels as from the beer.)

Yum! Not nearly as dark as I expected, and there wasn't much aroma, but the taste was out of this world! Silky smooth, chocolatey/roasty/coffee tones. That oak aging really smooths out a beer. I'd have this again.

Dark black color. Medium head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and wood. A medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are roasted, chocolate and coffee. Slightly spicy hops. Nicely balanced. Touches of wine barrel flavors. Fairly lively carbonation for a imperial stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

from previous notes Roasty nose with lots of oak overtones, black w/ clear brown edges, this is a nice looking brew. It has a velvetty tongue feel and subtle chocolate & coffee flavors. nicely done.

750ml bottle. Aged about 1 year since bought.

Pours a dark brown with a big light tan head that has great retention and leaves some lacing. Some yeasty floaties are present towards the bottom.

The aroma is a little subdued. There is some vinous, sherry alcohol. Also notes of chocolate, figs and woodiness.

This brew has a smorgasbord of flavors! There is anise, some light sweetness, roasted chocolate, well hidden alcohol, figs, wood notes, and smokiness. It has a light bitter roasted finish. Very well balanced and quite the treat! The mouthfeel is excellent as well. Full bodied and very smooth and creamy.

Overall, an excellent brew! Makes for a wonderful Thanksgiving treat!

Poured a dark chestnut color with a small tan head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, oak, mocha, nuts, and chocolate. Taste began roasty and then turned sweet chocolate and coffee. Just the slightest bit of alcohol noticed here. Damn this was nice... Super enjoyable!

This imperial stout pours with a very dark brown, but notquite black, body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with a nice alcohol note, a touch of woodiness, a little licorice and some fruit. The flavor is slightly sweet yet bitter and malty with a nice roasty chocolate note and a touch of wood. Full bodied, but not as thick as I expected.
