Famous for their Saison Ale, Brasserie Dupont is also renowned in Belgium for their Moinette. This sturdy ale has an herbal bouquet that indicates its well hopped character. But unlike its drier cousin, its body is fuller and rounder with a slightly sweet finish. Delicious before a meal and with foods like marinated meats and barbecue.

April 2015: Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Brown colour, off-white head. Moderate aroma, hints of brown kandij sugar and herbs. The flavour is more defined, brown kandij sugar without being too sweet, herbs and hops. Nice enough.

Single small bottle from the LCBO with a best before date of 10/2015 on back label. Pours an amber colour with lots of real tiny particles floating around, which seems to make this one hazy, but very, very lightly. Foamy light beige head with decent retention, but not much lace. The alcohol kind of gives a chlorine-pool aroma mixed-in with soda water, at first. Then, it changes for the better with notes of red apples, brown sugars and light spices. The taste is well-represented this way as well with a herbal finish. It does become quite hazy at the last pour. The alcohol is overall, well-hidden with no burning. A decent blend of fruitiness, sweetness and spices, but not really my thing.

Part of the Spring 2013 LCBO Dupont feature. The beer pours a semi-translucent light reddish-brown with a thin bubbly whitish head. The aroma is yeast, dark fruits, and funk. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is tart fruit and funky yeast with a little malt sweetness. I expected more.

Pours a hazed reddish brown with a small cap. low carbonation. Spice malt roast and funk in the aromal Flavour is malty but not sweet, herbal-spiey hopping, some light fruit discernment, roasty with some cocoa and vanilla, dry finish. Nice easy drinking ale for the strength.

Bottled. Hazy rusty reddish/brown colour with mediumsized head. Aroma is zest, barnyard, some seedyness and caramel malts. Flavour shows some signs of alcohol, yeast, herbs, fruits and caramel malts.

sampled draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, Sweden) Hazy amber appearence with a wonderful creamy tan head. Rich aroma of yeast, nectarine and spices. Fruity flavour of banana, pears, lemon and yeast in a firm malty body. Small notes of acidity. Long fruity finish of candied berries.

Bottle: Poured a medium brown color ale with a medium off-white foamy head with average retention. Aroma of cookie dough malt is present though too subtle for my own taste. Cookie dough malt can also be detected during the tasting but again it is a bit too discreet. Sweetness is also noticeable but yeast characteristic are also too subtle. Body is thinner then expected and alcohol is well hidden. Overall, while still being a good abbey dubbel I was expecting much more from one of my favourite Belgian brewer.

Bottle. Nearly opaque reddish brown, with 1.5cm off-white head. Great aroma; sweet, malty, fruity, spices, chocolate and fresh yeast. Bitter then sweet taste, malty, spicey and some warming alcohol. Nice smooth and full mouthfeel. Good dubbel.

On tap at Bistro 2005 Belgian Fest. Medium amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of caramel. A medium bodied abbey dubble. Malts are fruity and sweet, Touches of caramel and a little bready. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Has a very nice crisp dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

1999 vintage, sampled 03/2004 -hazy amber-brown colour, big creamy head, chocolate and buttery aroma, malty with some vinous notes, creamy and full-bodied, sweet and bitter with a biscuity maltiness, long dry malty finish - as always with this brewery: a very good beer.
