Southern Tier Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale

This poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma contains some pine, citrus, and grassy notes. The flavor contains lemons mostly, Im really not getting much else. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and herbal. Overall its ok for a session beer.

THe beer poured a hazed gold colour with a 1" white head. The aroma was very grainy, with citrus and weak yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is grass and light grapefruit. Not as extraordinary as the label implies.

Anytime something claims to be extraordinary or out of this world on the bottle I think they are shooting themselves in the foot, especially when the bottle comes from the mix and match section of a quality liquor store and the owner quickly dusts off the bottle before ringing it up, hoping you wont notice the accumulation of dust. A little lemony, a little hoppy, dry, crisp, still holding onto a sweet malt on the way down. A little better than average.

Nice beer, good pure hops. enjoyable and a great session beer. Hospital sources have no explanation for the sudden disappearance of the mysterious man now known as 'The Flamer'. He was last seen here... captured on a home video camera running in flames through Arlington National Cemetery. Police have been searching the hospital and the area for the human torch, but they are no leads at present.

ST picked an odd one to call extraordinary. Nothing wrong with this one, but it does absolutely nothing to stand out either. Average for the style and tame for ST. Well balanced, traditionally hopped, slightly refreshing.

Nice clear copper pour with a thin head and sporadic lacing. Sweet malts upfront in the aroma with a slight fruitiness and a traditional hops presence. Taste is smooth and easy with a nice malt backbone and light hops bitter.

Nothing really "extraordinary" on this one. OK for an APA, but there are better out there. The flavor is decent, a little rusty on the mouthfeel, but I like the hops that they use. There isn't much aroma and is bordeline skunky. Was my first introduction to Southern Tier, and looking for something better on my next try....I hope.

A crystalline amber colored beer. The head is creamy textured white colored. Small in appearance and not much hang time. Settles into a light lacing. The aroma is a light citrus hops, and even more subtle sweetness. The body is light to medium. Well carbonated. The flavors call up a nice beer. Not quite what I was expecting from a pale ale but good nonetheless. Pour is golden-orange with a thin white head that leaves abundant lacing. Aroma is faint but some malt and citrusy hops detected. Taste is clean and crisp with just a touch of spicy hop bitterness in the end. Not as hoppy as I like my pale ales to be but still highly drinkable.
