Dark has a distinctive hint of caramel that provides its dark color and hearty flavor. Just like Efes Pilsen, it is produced using the bottom fermentation technique, with the roasted malt used in brewing accounting for its characteristic flavor and color. Efes Dark has been awarded the golden medal in 1998's Monde Selection Brussels in the best beer category.

Clear bottle pours mahogany with thin off white head. The aroma first brings me back to dark Mexican beer aromatics with floral, a touch of skunk, firm earthiness, a slight metallic note and dark roasted malts. The taste is pretty nice with a mild level of roasted malts, a pretty thick chocolate presence and hints of sweet dark fruity esters here and there. At the finish noble hops come to the surface producing some spiciness, floral and earthiness. Pretty nice indeed. If I was in Turkey I’d be pretty happy if this was all I could get.

Pours a clear mahogany with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Malty aroma has a caramel and cinnamon overtone. Flavor has caramel, malt, and connamon tones plus a hint of cloves. Texture is not overly firm, but has decent fizz. This one should make you purr.

It is what it is. There is some malty flavor here, but the mouthfeel weighs it down. Balance leans towards the sweet side. Dark brown appearance. Certain beers remind me of malta, and this is one of them (oddly enough just reviewed a similar one from Guatemala called Moza Bock). Could be my first sample from Turkey. Looking for something better next time.

Not nearly as horris as the Efes Pils. Uninspired, perhaps. Slightly sweet, malty nutty aroma and flavor, with noticeable but light hopping. Pretty generic tasting, but not bad.

Pours a dark brown color. Smell is malty, caramel. Taste is good, caramel ,malts, lightly hopped. Overall if you like malty, slightly sweet beers, you will enjoy this one.

Color is OK, nice dark. Foam is OK and also staying, but the taste is less. Bit too sweet although some nice fruit flavor is lingering. Low alcohol, not my favorite beer.

It pours a dark brownish-red without much residual head and a thin ring of lacing. A bready aroma of caramel malts, light hops, orange and citrus, light licorace, some bitterness, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, hops, orange and citrus, licorace, bread and yeast, and spiciness. It is good! .. much better than I expected.

I can't fault this the way my colleagues have here. I found it to be a pleasant surprise, served at a Turkish restaurant here in Milwaukee. It poured very dark, with ruby tones, and a respectable head. Aroma and flavor was redolent with dark plums and raisins, and a slight hint of chocolate. Very sweet on the palate, and satisfying. Gotta give props where due, to a brewery in a secular Muslim society, for putting out a decent, credible beer, inspired perhaps more by Baltic porters than German Dunkels. I'd not stock it at home, but won't hesitate to order it again when out.

330 ml clear bottle, brought home from Turkey by my wife. ABV is 6.1%. Dark reddish brown colour, big greyish beige head. Smells "thin" and metallic, also notes of cooked vegetables and wet cardboard. The flavour is first tolerably malty with notes of brown bread and some caramel, without being very sweet. Some fruity acidity in the middle. Dull finish, minimal hops. Clearly drinkable, but boring. Don’t expect to find anything much better than this in Turkey, though.
