Rogue American Amber

Picked up a growler, finally rating this. Poured with a rocky beige head, resolving slowly & leaving thick lacing down the glass. Tarnished coppery gold, amber in soft light, cloudy. Sweet yeasty aroma, toasted & floral, with mild grapefruit note. Flavor reverses the aroma, with grapefruit leading the sweet yeasty bread notes. Very IPAish. Satisfying weight without being heavy: medium body & tiny bubbles. Tastes great with cheddar.

Pours amber orange color with a small beige creamy head that faded quickly and left great spotty lacing along the glass, and rings as it went down. The aroma is of sweet malt, toasted grains, caramel, floral hops and light wheat or yeast; nose was sweet and malty with caramel and toffee notes peeking through. The taste is of sweet malt, toasted grains, caramel, floral hops, light wheat or yeast, toffee, brown sugar, syrup and wheat bread; toasted malt lingers in the semi-dry finish that is creamy. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, with very little to no carbonation, a medium body and a very smooth overall feel. Really easy to drink and quite tasty

Wow, what a beer. Takes the concept of what an amber ale is and throws it out the window. Instead of the metallic caramel notes and weak floral hops found in a lot of amber ales, this one is more raosted with coffee and chocolate notes in both the aroma and flavour. Different, but a good different!

It pours a dark burnt-orange and copper with a fairly thick off-white head and copious lacing. A sweet aroma of caramel malts, hops, orange and citrus, some bitterness and tea leaf, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, orange and citrus blend, bitterness and tea, bread and biscuits, and light spiciness. A very smooth, flavorful, and well-crafted amber ale..

A decent amber that has alot in common with an ipa. Aromas and flavors fo sweet caramel malts and grapefruit and pine hops. Very slight stickiness in the mouth, but it's flavorful and easy to drink.

A cloudy amber/copper color with some burnt orange highlights at the bottom. An off white, fluffy head with very nice size and more than adequate retention. Left a good amount of lacing also. A nice caramel malt with a well blended sweetness in the nose. A little bit of a grapefruit citrus tone also. It's subtle, but nice. Seems to be balanced very well. A decent little hop bite in the taste. Some bitterness tickles the tongue. A small punch of grapefruit citrus gives way to a medium malty caramel as it warms. Again, balanced very nicely. Medium mouthfeel. Smooth, snappy and crisp. Dry. Leaves a nice flavor on the tongue and roof of the mouth that hangs around for quite sometime. Nice carbonation. Another fine beer from Rogue. Solid, well balanced. Easily drinkable. Would go well during any season. Not overly complex or robust. One that I would have no problem drinking a few of.

Aroma is strong, fruity, malty and a bit yeasty, rather inviting. It pours a surprisingly dark coppery-amber with a thick, fluffy, cream-white head. Flavor is malty with a slightly bitter hoppy undertone and hints of fruit, mainly apple. Texture is very smooth, yet it leaves behind a pleasant tingle and a bit of hoppy bitterness as well as a little fruity sweetness. Another winner from Rogue!

Purchased at Trader Joe's in Nashville. Pours a rich amber colour with a big beige frothy head that stays a while and leaves decent lacing. Beautiful piney hop aroma. Lots of hop in the taste too. Notes of caramel malt and grain in the aftertaste. Quite refreshing with a better-than-average bitterness, but not over-the-top. Overall, a great American Pale ale with an amber ale twist.

I expected more from Rogue... rather bland - not hateful, just not exciting. It could have been any number of other American Ambers. The pour was the requisite amber - non-descript - with a 1/2" head and minimal lacing. Mouthfeel was on the thin side and the flavor was as expected. Drinkable, but not noteworthy.

12 fl. oz. bottle, as Rogue American Amber Ale, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. The beer starts pouring out of the bottle by its own will. Dark amber colour, moderate beige head. Malty and bready aroma, notes of bakery and caramel, also some fruity hops, hints of spices. The flavour is malty and earthy with caramel and toffee, decent hops in the finish.
