i agree, not good enough to be labeled a "brewers reserve", but pretty good for the style...just not enough going on to be a good special release. ok, decent aroma and balance, but that's about it.

Bottle listed as Equinox Brewmasters Reserve. Not sure what made it part of the Brewmasters Reserve, but I really didn’t think much of the beer overall.

An aroma dominated by a soapy character that was pretty overwhelming that it just stepped on anything else that the beer was trying to give. Oxidation in the flavor with some offset earthy hops and some old malt flavor. This just didn’t ring my bell at all, and usually Full Sail beers are pretty tasty.

Has a very nice and bitter amora full of potent hops. Appearance is nice with a thick head and cloudy orange brown hue. Mouthfeel is a little bland with not much action. Flavor is excellent with lots of bitters.

Tons of carbonation. The head is out of control. Mostly clear amber with a tan head and lots of carbonation. Floral hops and some cookie malte aroma. Big earthy bitterness. Lots of floral notes. A bit of bakery sweetness. A touch of hop resin slikness, and lots of carbonation. Enjoyable, but far from great.

New Brewmasters Reserve release 2006. Nice looking beer, clear amber with a great looking frothy /bubbly off white head, that sticks around, afterwards lashings of lace. Very English style malty aromas backed up with very untypical NW hops ( for the style), but good and fresh none-the-less. Quite a good job on the taste of this it has very English characteristics in the malting but throws in a bit of American hop enthusiasm, giving a nice bitter twang to the beer, big for an English ESB. MOuthfeel was odd it started off really nice then sort of lost its way in wateryness..the nice bitter after taste saved it however. A nice beer sort of a hybrid in my opinion between an ESB and an American Pale..though for me the ESB characteristics edge a win.

This ESB/bitter pours an amber gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is herbal and citrusy with a hint of caramel. A medium bodied bitter. Malts are caramel and sweet, touch of fruit. Hops are citrusy and herbal. A little earthy as well. A big hoppy, somewhat bitter bitter. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Perhaps a touch thin in the mouth, but a nice beer. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
