This full bodied Imperial IPA is brewed with massive amounts of premium varieties of hops such as Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe and Crystal and paired with a rich blend ofluscious Munich, caramel and 2-row pale malts. The result is a perfect balance of luxuriant malt and heady, exhilarating hop flavor. After primary fermentation is finished, we dry hop our Imperial IPA with copious quantities of the above mentioned hops. It is then cold conditioned for a few weeks. The result is an outstanding and unforgettable hop aroma. Starting with an OG of 19 Plato and finishing at 8.0% alcohol by volume, this Imperial India Pale is a hop tour de force.

Got in a bottle in special 3/1 special, if you know what i mean .. . pours a deep gold, medium light foam, great lacing .. . light copper, light sap, light doorknob, and tree choppings .. . very light touches of age, usual for tx and ipa's .. . i got a raging clue .. . good but needs to be super fresh to be awesome .. . . what does November 9th have to do with anything?

This company just seems to excel in mediocre beers, and the IIPA is no exception. Unbalanced in the flavor and aroma departments as the caramel, cereal maltiness overwhelms the pine hops, not a bad beer, its drinkable, however IIPA's should be hop heavy.

Deep clear copper amber pour with minimal head and sporadic lacing. Pine and citrus hops aroma with light caramel malts in the background. Taste is nicely bitter upfront with some pine and grapefruit bitter hops barely cut by some sweet biscuit and malts and a noticeable alcohol burn and linger. Nice bitter linger. One of the better Mendocino beers I've tried. Decent but not stellar.

carmel and biscuit/bready malts make the beer almost sticky. bittering and citrus hops are there, but almost secondary. decent body and malt/hop/alcohol balance. not quite worth the premium $$$ but not bad. i don’t like my iipas to be malt bombs

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy copper orange with a medium pillowy head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet caramel malts and melon with some biscuity toffee and fruity, slightly metallic hops.

The flavor is sweet biscuity malts with some fruits that leads to a big flavorless bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation and is a little watery.

Overall, I didn't really care for the flavor. It had good bitterness, but not much hop flavor. Plus it had a lot of biscuit notes which I don't really care for especially in an IIPA.

Sampled on 5/21/2010. This Imperial IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention. The aroma is hoppy, grapefruity and citrusy. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and fruity. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Decent carbonation. A medium bitterness IPA. The beer finishes a little sweet, yet there is some lingering residual hoppiness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
