Aroma is a bit subdued on this dark and very bread-like beer. Lots of yeast and bread in the flavor with more subtle notes of spice and candi sugar. Not heavy at all, almost surprised at the lightness overall. A very well done beer all around.

Pours cola brown or darker. Aroma yeasty and dark fruit, with some underlying cocoa as well. Prickly carbonation, light to medium bodied for the abv. Pretty nice, but the Ommegang specialties are beginning to not be worth the price when the regular releases are just as good or sometimes better for half.

A very dark brown/ black body. Huge fluffy light brown head adorns it. Head retention is pretty good, after it mostly fades away (finally), it leaves nice laceing. Aromas of Belgian yeast with lots of bread and banana. Nice spice to it as well. A bit of roasted malt but mostly dark fruits instead. Cherries, figs, raisins, sweet molasses with a touch of caramel. Maybe even chocolate? Get something different each time. Flavors are loaded with thick, sweet dark fruits. Bready with cloves and some other strong spices that I can't identify. Some earthy bitterness on the back end. Hints of chocolate in the aftertaste. Fairly high carbonation, makes this one feel lighter than it really is. Well balanced, and complex.

Pours dark brown black with a frothy tan head. Loads of lacing. Dark fruit abounds, nice malty backdrop. All in all a great beer all around, perhaps a bit sharp overall.

Pours a deep, opaque, brownish sable with a very thick and somewhat persistent light tan head. The sample I got fizzed quite a bit, so I recommend having a towel handy when you crack open a bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel and molasses plus hints of licorice and pear. Superb flavor has a malty core and fruity, caramel and molasses tones, hints of horehound, licorice and honey. Smooth, firm-bodied texture does not have a lot of fizz, but it still pleases. Let this "dark side" seduce you while you have the opportunity.

A dark brown colored beer with a big frothy light tan head rising robustly above. There's some hang time. Settles into thick splotches of film aside the glass and a medium ringlet atop the body. Roasty, molasses and fruit in the profile. Lighter in the nose than the tasting. Light-medium bodied and a bit slick on the tongue.
