This series is all about experimenting with unusual brewing ingredients. Tripel Café uses green coffee beans, orange peel, and coriander – brewed with Belgian yeast for an 8.8% Belgian Tripel. This is the fourth in our 750ml Belgian Style series. In this beer, we wanted to experiment with green coffee beans. The unroasted coffee beans bring a light coffee bitterness to compliment the citrusy hops, spicy phenols, and yeasty floral esters. Tripel Café is light, with a delicate body and a rounded, soft bitterness. Classic Belgian lacing gives way to pale straw color and highly effervescent mouthfeel. Of course, because the 750ml bottle is conditioned, some haziness is to be expected. When pouring the bottle, be aware that some sediment may be present. Pour carefully to avoid this, or don’t. The choice is yours.

Pours clear orange-amber with a thick and rather persistent eggshell head. Aroma presents fruity, citrus, malty and peppery(?) tones. Maybe the latter is from the green coffee beans. Flavor starts with a malty core and adds orange, apple, pear, hoppy, coriander, and - well, must be them green coffee beans coming across as slightly peppery but not holy-crap-I-just-bit-into-a-habañero-dipped-in-sriracha hot. Not even jalapeño hot, just enough to tickle the taste buds. Body is average, but fizz is strong and persistent, and finish delivers fruity and mild peppery tones. Don’t monkey around, grab a bottle and enjoy.

A bright golden colored beer with a big frothy textured white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles into a thick film and ringlet. Spicy nose. The tasting is a complex cornucopia of coriander, sweet fruit, bready malt. Effervescent, clean finish.
